DAF FT XF truck and Koegel crash on the Onuškis–Butrimonys–Punia road
On Thursday, 20 March 2014, in the evening at 20:30, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Onuškis–Butrimonys–Punia regional road (kilometre 15), a DAF FT XF 105.460 rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the DAF (32 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
