On Tuesday, 24 October 2017, in the evening at 18:35, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Naujamiestis–Upytė regional road (kilometre 5.01), a Ssang Yong Kyron rolled over. One person died — a 64-year-old passenger of the Ssang Yong (was not wearing a seatbelt). Two people were injured — the 74-year-old driver of the Ssang Yong (hospitalized) and a 45-year-old passenger of the Ssang Yong (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 74-year-old driver of the Ssang Yong (56 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. A 64-year-old passenger of the Ssang Yong was drunk (2.47‰). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
