On Tuesday, 24 October 2017, in the evening at 18:35, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Naujamiestis–Upytė regional road (kilometre 5.01), a SsangYong Kyron rolled over. One person died — a 64-year-old passenger of the SsangYong (was not wearing a seatbelt). Two people were injured — the 74-year-old driver of the SsangYong (hospitalized) and a 45-year-old passenger of the SsangYong (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 74-year-old driver of the SsangYong (56 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. A 64-year-old passenger of the SsangYong was drunk (2.47‰). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
