Dozing Volvo truck driver runs off the road on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Thursday, 2 May 2019, at night at 2:45, in Kaišiadorių district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 59.90), a Volvo FH12 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the Volvo (33 years of driving experience), who fell asleep at the wheel. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
