Drunk Volvo XC90 driver and Opel crash on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Friday, 12 January 2024, in the afternoon at 15:10, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 43.60), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo XC90 and an Opel Vectra. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 46-year-old driver of the Volvo (24 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (0.82‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident there was a blizzard, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 120 km/h.
