On Saturday, 4 January 2025, at night at around 0:00, in Neringos municipality, on the Smiltynė–Nida national road (kilometre 35.20), a BMW 550 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the BMW (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
