Unlicensed Audi A4 driver flees after hitting a child in Vileikiškių village
On Saturday, 29 September 2012, in the evening at around 20:00, in Širvintų district municipality, Vileikiškių village, on Smalių, an Audi A4 Avant hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 10-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
