Drunk, unlicensed driver runs off the road on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Monday, 17 November 2014, at night at 0:53, in Klaipėdos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 279), an Audi A4 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.56‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
