On Monday, 13 July 2015, in the evening at around 18:00, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 76.51), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Kia Rio and a Can-Am. One person was injured — the 17-year-old driver of the Can-Am (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Kia (7 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
