Drunk Seat driver and Volkswagen crash on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Friday, 20 January 2017, at night at 2:12, in Kaišiadorių district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 57.86), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Seat Alhambra and a Volkswagen Passat. One person was injured — a 26-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Seat (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.55‰ blood alcohol). The 18-year-old driver of the Volkswagen had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was icy.
