On Sunday, 5 November 2017, in the morning at 6:50, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Šaukėnai–Vaiguva–Kalniškiai regional road (kilometre 1.30), a BMW 320D ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the BMW (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
