On Monday, 14 December 2020, in the evening at 18:50, in Telšių district municipality, on the Telšiai–Varniai–Laukuva national road (kilometre 29.40), a BMW 5ER Reihe hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 71-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the BMW (13 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober.
