Scania truck runs off the road on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Wednesday, 23 February 2022, at night at 0:10, in Kaišiadorių district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 81.90), a Scania S 50 registered in Poland ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Scania (24 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
