BMW and Volkswagen crash on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Sunday, 12 November 2023, at night at 4:12, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 32), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a BMW and a Volkswagen Passat. One person died — the 50-year-old driver of the Volkswagen. Four people were injured — the 20-year-old driver of the BMW (hospitalized), a 49-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (hospitalized), a 43-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and a 48-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the BMW (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober.
