Drunk Skoda driver and DAF truck crash on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Friday, 16 August 2024, in the evening at 17:54, in Kaišiadorių district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 71.81), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Skoda Octavia and a DAF FT XF105. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Skoda (22 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.72‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
