Drunk BMW 320D driver and Opel crash at Islandijos highway and Panerių street, Kaunas
On Saturday, 26 March 2022, in the evening at 22:45, in Kaunas, on Islandijos highway, at the junction with Panerių street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW 320D and an Opel. Two people were injured — a 46-year-old passenger of the Opel (treated as an outpatient) and the 44-year-old driver of the Opel (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the BMW (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.86‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
